Glossary
The vocabulary of pay-to-rank marketplaces, defined precisely. Each entry says what the term means, how it is measured where that applies, and links to the mechanism it describes. They are deliberately short — a definition that runs to two thousand words has stopped being a definition.
C
- Cumulative ranking
- A ranking model where every payment adds to a running total and nothing expires, so position reflects total spend over time rather than the size of any single payment.
V
- Verified spend
- The total amount a listing has paid that a payment provider has confirmed, re-checked against that provider's API, and had refunds deducted from. It is the only input to ranking position.
W
- What is a backlink?
- A backlink is a link from one website to a page on another. This entry defines the term and the distinctions that change what a link is actually worth.
