Sample rankings

This is a demonstration of how position works on Outranked.me, using businesses that do not exist. The live leaderboard contains only real listings.

SAMPLE DATA — NOT A REAL RANKING

Every business below is fictional and every figure is illustrative. No payment was made, no position was bought, and none of these companies exist. This page shows how the mechanic works; it is not a market and is not indexed as one.

If six businesses were competing

  1. #1Northwind Example Conorthwind.example · Analytics · ownership verified$480
  2. #2Lumenbrook Examplelumenbrook.example · Design · ownership verified$455
  3. #3Quillstone Example Labsquillstone.example · Software$410
  4. #4Harborline Exampleharborline.example · Logistics · ownership verified$265
  5. #5Ferngate Example Groupferngate.example · Marketing$180
  6. #6Aldercrest Examplealdercrest.example · Finance$95

Illustrative amounts. 3 of 6 shown as ownership-verified, to demonstrate that verification is independent of position.

How a position changes

Rank is one plus the number of listings with greater time-weighted verified spend. On this sample board, passing Northwind Example Co at #1 would cost $481 — the position above you, plus the minimum increment. Nothing is negotiated and no editor is involved.

  1. #3 → #2Lumenbrook Example would move up, passing Quillstone Example Labs.

What a verified payment large enough to take second place would record.

  2. #2 → #3Quillstone Example Labs would be recorded as displaced.

The displaced listing is recorded too — being passed is an event, not a silence.

  3. #5 → #4Harborline Example would move up, passing Ferngate Example Group.

Every listing a payment moves gets its own row, naming the cause.

On the live board these are not hypotheticals: every real movement is written when the money is applied and published on the ranking changelog, with the competitor that caused it.

No business has taken a position yet

The live board is empty, and it says so rather than showing you invented companies. The first verified payment takes #1.
